Recipe for The Muddled Duck
Ingredients
- Three round slices of blood orange
- Castor sugar
- Juice of half a lime
- White rum
- Cognac
- Seltzer
Instructions
In a cocktail shaker, muddle 2 quarter inch slices of blood orange, one tablespoon castor sugar, and juice of half a lime. This helps to bruise the orange peels and let the oils come out. Add 2 ounces white rum and 2 ounces cognac. Add crushed ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a chilled highball glass. Add 6 ounces of seltzer and slice of blood orange for garnish.
Should you use Triple Sec or Cointreau instead of the cognac? I mean, you do you. I wouldn’t because I want the flavor of the blood orange.
